Perennial All-Star Blake Griffin was traded Monday night in an odd deal that few saw coming. The Clippers sent Griffin to the Detroit Pistons along with big men Willie Reed and Brice Johnson in exchange for Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, Boban Marjonović, a future protected first-round draft pick and a future second-round pick.

Griffin was the face of the Los Angeles Clippers for his entire nine year tenure and probably the best player in franchise history. Although the highflying power forward has lost some of his bounce, he has continued to expand his range and reinvent his game to adjust to the small ball era of the NBA.

Los Angles never won a championship or made it to the Finals during the Lob City era of Clippers basketball, but they still enjoyed an abundance of regular season success in large part due to Griffin’s excellent play. Their playoff losses were frustrating for Clippers fans to watch, but they fought plenty of entertaining battles and never went down without a fight.

Los Angeles is clearly rebuilding their team identity, but before Blake Griffin makes his debut in Motown blue, let’s take a minute to admire some of his greatest hits in a Clippers’ uni.
